The Wedding of
Roy & Olivia
Roy & Olivia
Roy and I first met in the winter of 2023. During Roy’s senior year of high school, he and my brother, Jason, played basketball together at Grand Lake Christian. After Jason’s very first practice, he came home talking all about a guy named Roy and insisting that we would be perfect for each other. I heard all about how athletic he was, how talented he was as a musician, how funny he was, and how welcoming he had been to Jason as the new guy on the team.
At the time, I didn’t think much of it since Roy was 17, and I was almost 20–YIKES!
Over the next couple of years, we continued to cross paths at basketball games, volleyball games, and all things related to Grand Lake Christian Athletics. We got to know each other casually as friends, never imagining where our story would eventually lead.
By October of 2025, Roy had become interested in me—but I wouldn’t find that out or even know that he was single for another two months. During that time, Roy’s sister-in-law, Bekah, and one of my best friends, Allie, were convinced we’d be a perfect match and were quietly trying to figure out how to bring us together.
Then came December 14, 2025.
That was the day I found out Roy was single, and suddenly I saw him in a completely different light. For the first time, I found myself genuinely interested and hopeful about the possibility of something more. I immediately told Allie how I felt, only to discover that she and Bekah had already been discussing Roy and I for months.
Two days later, I attended a girls basketball game at Grand Lake Christian where Roy was coaching. Secretly hoping for a chance to talk to him, I was thrilled when he came right over after the game and started a conversation. We talked for quite a while, and I remember leaving that night feeling incredibly excited and hopeful.
The next day was my 22nd birthday. I spent the day with Allie, and most of our conversation revolved around Roy. That was the day I learned that he liked me too and wanted to get to know me better—best birthday ever!
What I didn’t know was that Roy had been telling Bekah how he felt about me, while I had been telling Allie how I felt about Roy. Meanwhile, Bekah and Allie were keeping each other updated on everything we were saying.
December 17, 2025, will always be one of my favorite days of my life. I’ve never felt so excited about someone or so hopeful about what the future might hold.
Over the next month, Roy and I talked nearly every day. Then, on January 16, 2026 we had our first official date at Buffalo Wild Wings in St. Marys. We met at 5:30 PM and didn’t leave until 11:30 PM. Somehow, six hours felt like no time at all, and not long enough.
After four wonderful months of dating, Roy proposed on May 8, 2026—another one of my favorite days of my life! Now, here we are, planning our wedding and eagerly looking forward to the future the Lord has in store for us. We are so grateful for His faithfulness in bringing our paths together and writing a story that is far better than we could have planned ourselves.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
